The “Ancient Pyramid” Skinny from 7 For All Mankind
April 21, 2012 at 12:01 pm | In New Arrivals, Styling, Trends, Uncategorized | No CommentsThe rolled skinny from 7 For All Mankind just arrived and is already one of our favorite versions of the printed denim we’ve gotten in for spring. Love that the tonal design maximizes their wearability while adding a punch of freshness to everything in our closets.
Here’s how we’ll be wearing them, from a casual day at the farmers market to a beautiful (and much-needed) weekend in Napa:
Spring fashion made easy!
April 17, 2012 at 2:37 pm | In New Arrivals | No CommentsWardrobe essentials are pouring in from some of our favorite basics lines – James Perse, Enza Costa, and Hanro.
These are the things we wear everyday (as active wear, weekend wear, layered under everything) and, with warmer Spring weather (hopefully) ahead, it’s the perfect time to do a little closet inventory. I personally am a huge fan of an easy basic, see them as wardrobe necessities, and have been under the mistaken impression that foundational pieces are the one area that my closet actually has covered. As I realized upon further inspection, my tried-and-true layering tanks, tees, and longsleeves are mildly horrifying. Faded, stretched out… I think I might have even spotted some fairly significant holes. Definitely time to embark on a closet revamp and invest in some great new staples.
First on my list?
The “Simple Hoodie” from James Perse. Perfect for those days that I need to run a million errands but don’t want to have to hide if I see anyone I know.
Enza Costa tunic tanks in every color possible. The ultimate layering piece for under everything in my closet (they are made out of supima cotton, so they are unbelievably soft).
James Perse V-Neck tees. Just a quintessential, must-have basic.
Lots and lots of styles in store now, so swing by and snag your favorites!

March 30, 2012 at 2:19 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsFLASH DENIM & BAG SALE
While some of us may not get super excited about the final four (or, to be more specific, even know who they are), we can definitely get hyped about 50% off handbags and denim!
It’s happening now at dress – score half off our entire bag collection and a great selection of jeans.
Check out some of our staff favorites:
Spring Neutrals from Chan Luu
March 24, 2012 at 8:57 am | In New Arrivals | No CommentsLiving in San Francisco has made us (perhaps involuntarily) seasoned scarf connoisseurs, and Chan Luu’s cashmere and silk version is decidedly perfect. Lightweight, cozy, exceptionally soft, beautiful… We could go on, but suffice to say that this is one scarf that makes us grateful that we live in city in which at least one extra layer is almost always required.
Our newest delivery of Chan Luu scarves has arrived in a gorgeous palette of fresh neutrals:
All available in store now. Solids $195, Prints $245.
New from Thursday/Friday
February 25, 2012 at 2:11 pm | In New Arrivals | No CommentsPerhaps the first of its kind, the “Together” tote from L.A. based label Thursday/Friday is the anti-status ”It” bag. Pop-art inspired and a little cheeky, these totes reference luxury while being as easy to wear as your favorite tee. We love that they are actually functional – throw them on for trips to the
grocery store, gym, beach, school, work…
The latest Moto collection just arrived in black and brown ($65) and for all the little things rolling around at the bottom of your bag, check out the “Here” accessories pouch in bright yellow ($35).
It’s here!
January 13, 2012 at 9:13 am | In Uncategorized | No CommentsThe Winter Sale is now in full swing here at dress! The timing couldn’t be better to get amazing deals on pretty much everything in the store (50% – 80% off!). The Holidays are over, which means we can do a little guilt-free shopping for ourselves and, for some of us, follow through on new resolutions to spend more smartly. And nothing feels smarter than snagging pieces at ½ off that are classic, versatile, and cute. Some of my top picks?
Theory “Balbina” Dress
The ultimate double-duty piece. Looks incredibly polished with a great cardigan and pumps for work and awesome for evening with a little leather, tights, and booties.
Originally $315, now $157.50.
Mara Hoffman Tie-Front Cardigan
As always, Hoffman’s take on print is perfection. This time, a black and white graphic takes this wear-everyday sweater up a couple notches. Will look great tossed over everything in your closet.
Originally $398, now $199.
Botkier “James” Hobo
Warm gray leather and gunmetal hardware are a stunning combination of this Botkier creation. Super soft and finished with pleat and zipper detailing. Fantastic all-year and stands apart from the sea of black bags but is just as versatile.
Originally $595, now $297.50.
It’s officially the season…
December 20, 2011 at 12:21 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsAnd it’s safe to say that I am officially a last-minute shopper. For those kindred spirits who, despite all their best intentions, still have a substantial list of gifts to purchase and less than a week to check them off, no need to fret. While I may not be full of inspired gift ideas for everyone on your “nice” list, working in retail has given me an edge on fail-safe options that our shoppers (and staff) have been coveting.
Some top contenders:
While the designer is known for her jewelry (especially her signature wrap bracelets), her scarves have proven to be a top-seller at dress. The cashmere and silk fabrication manages to be both tissue weight and cozy (perfect all-year here in SF) and are available in many colors and prints. Solids are $195, prints $245.
Marc by Marc Jacobs “Tate” totes

Easy, functional, and a staple in any woman’s bag wardrobe. Medium size $188.
Julie Rofman bracelets
A great way to add a little pop of color and visual interest to any outfit. Perfect alone or layered for maximum impact. $79 – $165.
Trina Turk cocktail rings
For the girl who loves a little bling. $65 – $125
All items available at dress.
Happy shopping and Happy Holidays!
